My 22nd second poem is on Buddha.. For some reason, I seem to be FASCINATED by this great man.. The first non-war hero of the world! This poem is called Buddhanin Yuddham – Buddha’s War.. An interesting topic for a person who has preached peace all his life.. Its an imagination of Buddha’s discussion with his parents about his pursuit of knowledge..

Buddhanin Yuddham

Thandhai sol mikka mandhiram illai..
Yendru sonnadhu unmai.
UngaL vedhangaL puriyavillai..
Idhu en paadhai illai..

Thaayai sirandha kovilum illai..
Ungal anbukku eedillai..
UngaL aruL illaiyendral..
EnakkuL buddhan yaezhuvadhillai..

Ungal yedhirpaarpu thavarillai..
Aaanal.. Adhil enakku eedupaadillai..
Thani Vazhi nadappadhu.. nadai-murai illai
VaaLum kalai thaedal… Yendrum mudivadhillai..

Here is the translation

There is no better Mantra than father’s word..
It is true that I told these words…
I dont understand your vedas..
This is not my way..

There is no better temple than mother..
There is no limit to your love..
If I dont have your blessing..
Buddha – the sublime bliss.. wouldnt wake up in me..

There is nothing wrong in your expectations..
But.. I dont have interest in those..
It is not normal to walk a different path..
By my quest for the “art” of living.. will never end…
