In todays fast moving life, we dont really find a lot of time for hobbies. Inspite of all these odds, some people go on to pursue their interests. And today, we have a person, who has pursued his interest in a very very different line..
Welcome, Mr. Adarsh Nagarajan! A Palmist.
Coffee With Adarsh! - A budding Palmist.
Me: Sundar Rajan G S
AN: Adarsh Nagarajan
Me: Hi Adarsh! Welcome to CWS. When did you start learning palmistry?
AN: It was a gloomy sunday. I had finished my first PU(11th) exams just then. I had been to a book fare. There I brought a book on palmistry. This was 5 years back. I had no prior knowledge of palmistry. The only good thing with the book was its price , other than that not even a page was worth reading. After reading the book I felt there is something missing in this book, that was the analysis part. The whole book was written as if it was a fact . To sate my curiosity I kept on reading some dumb books. Then I proceeded a step further by joining a diploma course on palmistry and face reading. There I was fortunate to get a good teacher. That course went
on for a year. By the end of the course I got acquainted with the names of some good books on palmistry which are worth reading. After the course got over i’m improving my skills by referring to these books.
Me: What is your background? Was there any link in your family that motivate you to take up palmistry?
AN: Yes… My grandfather was a great astrologer. My aunt is practicing astrology even now. From my aunt i’m learning the nuances of astrology. My aunt is an expert in horary astrology. Now i’m learning horary astrology. Horary astrology means predicting the future by referring the horoscope
Me: What is the most important characteristic that one should have, to learn & practice palmistry?
AN: An aspirant should have loads of logic to become successful in astrology. Also a teacher is very much needed. The same line in the palm should be interpreted in different ways depending on the situation. Astrology is a great science. Accuracy of prediction depends on the ability of astrologer and not on the science. If a space shuttle burns off even before it leaves the earth’s atmosphere, the problem is with he scientists and not with the science.
Me: Do you have a guru? Or are you learning from a book? If you can learn this art from books, dont you think carnatic music can be learnt from books?
AN: Yes i’m having a guru. During initial stages a teacher in needed. There are lots of assumptions in astrology, (like Why are the planets considered for prediction?…. And if a person is having sun at exaltation he may become a mathematician…. How is that? How can a person’s life be decided on the basis of planets) . All cannot be understood by the students. If one does not try analyzing those assumptions, one can never become a successful astrologer. Also one should have a good teacher to answer to your questions. A teacher is needed till a certain stage. After that a student can learn from books. As we know that every rule has an exception.. Any thing can be learnt from books, it may be astrology or music or anything … But it takes lots of time and it takes lots of effort. So it is better to have a teacher.
Me: How many hands have you seen so far?
AN: I have seen approximately around 500 hands…
Me: What are your advises for someone who wants to take up palmistry?
AN: Astrology is a great science. Your lack of knowledge in this science should not denigrate the glory. Work hard to gain knowledge. Do not predict other’s future until you learn the science completely.

Very good answers by Adarsh!
Wish you had a forum where even the readers could ask questions, instead of ur canned ones
Hi Balaji,
If you have any questions, you can leave a comment! I can get adarsh to answer it over his free time..
And regarding canned questions.. :-), i had initiated this interview long time back.. I assure you.. there wont be repeat questions next time..
Really well said… Adarsh. Would like to go back to one of your replies quoting “Any thing can be learnt from books, it may be astrology or music or anything”. I doubt if this true with music. Music means a lot more only when you listen to it than what you read in the books. Theory and practice are not the same…
@ Harsha,
I think what adarsh meant was Self Effort. He didnt mean the literal meaning of learning from books. He meant, learn without the help of guru..
I think both of you will agree with me.
A good one…:-)And adarsh is of the opinion that a teacher or guru is necessary if one is to save a lot of time in mastering predictive knowledge such as astrology and palmistry.. such sciences need both a teacher to get knowledge and insight from, and also a lot of skill, self effort, and logic. this science is also an art.Hence some part can only be learnt by the learner and cannot be taught by the teacher..
All the best to Adarsh:-)
bye.
@ kala,
I agree with you!
