Labour of Love

7 November 2010 18 Comments

Hi All,

My friend Adam Iqbal had given me a concept to work on – The Labour of Love! “Labour of Love” means doing something for the sheer love of doing it and this second painting of mine is my labour of love πŸ™‚

Labour of Love also implies a unique relationship.. where the labour continues when the love fails. And one of the best example of labour of love is the love story of Radha and Krishna in Indian Mythology. Radha sacrifices her love for the sake of her lover Krishna, so that he could go ahead and complete the tasks for which Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Krishna.

This is my second painting and I got a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of hand holding from a professional artist, Mr. Umesh at Shraddha collection and it was a great experience to work on this piece. The sketch is a trace and I learnt just the painting.

just to comment on the flute holding, since I know to hold the flute.. it is actually the right way to hold it (especially when playing some Ma equivalent note on the flute, you have to keep the little finger up). Very well drawn, both artistically magnificent, and technically right. πŸ™‚ The transparency is awesome too.. only thing, you want to place the hands a little far apart, but heck, there are flutes where the holes aren’t always placed equally apart. πŸ™‚

Keep it up, this one is absolute stunner drawing.
