Motherhood – Thaaimai

23 May 2011 10 Comments

Mother is an ocean of love.. Greatness of mother can hardly be captured in words.. This short poem on monther is a small drop to appreciate the great ocean. Thaaimai (Motherhood) – My 47th poem.

=======

My previous poem on Corruption can be found here – Oozhalukku enna vilai?

All my earlier poems can be found here.

Here is the english meaning:

Mother is the one who gives us a form.. Mother is the one who gives us the relatives..
Here the interesting part is that.. the word “uruvam” and “uravum” are very similar sounding with a very small change in alphabets..

Mother is the one who shakes the cradle to put us to sleep.. But when we cry, she doesnt mind the burden and carries us..

She showers the love.. and she brings out friendliness within us..

She made us study the text books.. But she also thought us lessons outside the textbooks..

She made a lot of sacrifices.. She also shares a part of our sadness..

She prays to god for us.. and she makes us a human being..

O Mother! who told me a number of stories.. you are the answer to all my mysteries..

O Mother! who gave me the breath.. you are my life which I breathe..

English script for the poem is as follows:

Thaaimai
=======

Uruvam kuduththa thaayae..
Enakku uravum koduththaayae…

Thottil aatiya thaayae..
Azhugaiyyil thoLil sumandhaayae..

Paasam pozhindha thaayae..
Enakkul naesam vaLarthaayae..

Padikka vaiththa thaayae..
Nalvazhiyil nadakka vaiththayae..

Thiyaagam saidha thaayae..
En soogam pagirndhaayae..

Iraivanai vaendiya thaayae..
